Château de Bonhoste

Our story

The Château de Bonhoste was established around 1895, when the BUSSIERE family arrived in "Bonhoste", a locality in the commune of Saint Jean de Blaignac, where the CHABERT family has resided since the end of the 18th century. It is Bernard FOURNIER, grandson of Madame BUSSIERE, who reunited the two properties in 1977. Assisted by his wife ColetteThey decide to develop this family heritage.

In 2005, their children Sylvaine and Yannick FOURNIERThe 5th generation took over the property. Yannick, after studying viticulture and oenology, takes care of the technical side, Sylvaine, a graduate in economics and business management, manages the marketing.

Exceptional Geographical Location.

Located at the 45th parallel, Bordeaux  benefits from a temperate climate, favorable to vines with winters with rare frosts, wet springs, hot summers and sunny autumns.

Le Château de Bonhoste  is located on a hillside facing Saint-Émilionoverlooking the Dordogne valley.

Aging

This magnificent quarries was dug 200 years ago, originally for the stone extraction for the construction of Bordeaux-style houses.

Since 1986, the aging of wine in barrels as well as the aging Bottles are made in this cellar, which allows us to offer the optimal conditions storage conditions require a stable temperature and 100% humidity.

The Terroir

With its fifty hectares, the Château de Bonhoste is situated on a clay-limestone soilWith good drainage potential, it allows excess water to flow deep into the ground where it does not risk suffocating the roots of the vine.

The environment

The certification HVE High Environmental ValueImplemented since February 2012, it is a tool that focuses on four key themes: the preservation of biodiversity, the plant health strategy, the fertilization management and the resource of the water.

Our vineyards obtained certification in 2013 HVE (High Environmental Value)we are committed to guaranteeing the controlled environmental management.
